Our Story
Our journey began when the Monash Council closed The Highway Gallery in 2018, prompting the formation of Monash Community Arts Society Inc (MONCAS). In anticipation of this closure, five individuals stepped forward to establish the organization: Felicity Smith OAM JP, Pratibha Madan, Fiona Nicholson Stocker, Lina Aguis, and Michael Shang. Their shared vision was to ensure that Community Arts continued to thrive within the City of Monash.
With the generous support of the Monash Council, our inaugural exhibition was organized by Pratibha Madan in September 2018, held in a gallery that had yet to be named—later known as The Track Gallery. Since that pivotal moment, MONCAS has flourished, attracting new members and forging lasting connections through our Annual Exhibitions. These events not only showcase an array of captivating artworks but also foster the growth of new friendships within our vibrant artistic community.
